is my website uploaded? ftp, webhosting, confused…?
okay, i’m not sure if this is a really stupid question, but i know nothing about websites.
basically, i recently bought a domain name and webhosting from 123-reg. i finished my website and attempted to upload the files using ftp as 123-reg advised using both dreamweaver and filezilla, but had connection problems with both. i then downloaded classicftp from the apple website and had no problem connecting, and uploaded all the relevant files.
now when i go to my hosting account on 123-reg and log into the file manager, all the files appear. so my question is what do i do now? is that it? do i have to do anything else? or will it just appear at my domain name after a while?
again, i apologise if this is a stupid question but i’m really confused..

the address is www.madiillustration.co.uk and no, it doesn’t show up when i go there but would it appear immediately or would it take a while?
yes, i bought the domain name and hosting together and i do have an index.html page
If you bought the domain name and hosting at the same time from the same company, the domain name should be pointing to the site. If you can’t see the site when you go to it, you probably don’t have a default page (default.htm,. default.html, index.htm or index.html – the site may also be set up for .php default pages).
If you go to your domain, do you see your site? The answer to that question will determine if you are done!

What is your domain name? If you can enter your domain name in a browser (www.mydomain.com) and see your site, it is working. If not, then it it not, and you may need to set the correct Nameserver information in your DNS record, which is something you should be able to do through your hosting account dashboard
