is it that hard to build a file hosting website ? (simple one) without money/paying/advertising or anything?

i want to create a file hosting website (for personal use)
i want my friends at school to be able to upload their files to my website and get link back to download it
thats it , its 2 simple
the website isn’t for business purpose , no advertising or users system , or anything else needed..
i think it should be written in php ,
is it easy to do one ?
It is pretty easy and you are right about needing PHP but you may find that freehosts wont allow you to file host as they have been abused in the past.
