Bldg a Website?
www.slamminskinnybod.com
I’m using the sitebuilder software that came with the webhosting package. I’m pretty limited on what I can do, esp since I only know the basics about html and don’t know how to manipulate the built-in tables.
My site looks pretty amateurish but I’m so dang passionate about the content that it’s frustrating to not know how to do what I want to do.
I’ve figured out the basics and how to add a forum but I want more creative control.
Should I use my own software instead – like DreamWeaver (don’t own it – was hoping to pick up a copy from HalfPrice Books or half.com if necessary)? Which one is the most user-friendly? FrontPage?
Also, what do you think of the domain name? I wanted it to be hip and attention-getting.
It’s an absolute baby right now as far as developing it and I know how amateurish it looks so please don’t be mean.
A great place to start would be getting a professional template. They are out there because not everyone IS or HAS TIME to create a great looking template from scratch. Most folks just want to plug-n-play their content.
I would suggest visiting: http://www.oswd.org/ and find a template you love. Then you could simply plug-n-play your template.
If that is still too much headache, try using free Content Managment Software (CMS) like Joomla! or Wordpress (really blogging software – but can be used as a CMS)

If you still get stuck – message me and I will try to help!
Good luck and hang in there! It’s great to passionate!!
