Problems with Hosting, FTP, Frontpage…the works. Help! Awardspace.com/GoDaddy.com?

I have made a website before on Frontpage and uploaded it to Yahoo Geocities using the File Manager they have. It was simple and easy… However, I have since bought my own domain and am in the process of creating another website using FrontPage. I used GoDaddy.com to register and purchase my domain, and since they didn’t offer free webhosting I was advised to go with a free host like Awardspace.com, which I did. Last night I tried to upload my pages a number of ways, but I must be doing something wrong because NOTHING is working. I uploaded a page to the file manager there and linked my awardspace account with my domain name… but it’s not showing up. I also tried FTP between FrontPage and awardspace, but FP is asking for things that awardspace didn’t supply me with… like (ftp://_________) and directory name, etc. Awardspace also has a program that accepts FP extensions, but I couldn’t get that to work either. I know I’m skipping a step somewhere or doing something wrong, but what?

The ftp:// address is the FTP site you need to connect to to upload the files. Awardspace will supply you with this information.

Few questions about webhosting…*important plz*?

Hello, I need to run a website for our school club. I don’t want to start with paid webhosting, because I am not really good at creating websites, so don’t expect to be the best job from theb eginning. Which Free Webhosting site would you recommend, and what are the terms if you decide to switch to paid after while??

Second…which program would you recommend me to create a website as to a beginner (not complete…i had run a quite good looking, but FrontPage :X, website some while ago…)…something at lest kind of ‘decent’, so it can represent the club, not embarras it….
thanx

Hi!
I am a web developer and designer, and think I can help you.

There are many free web hosts out there, but a lot of them remain free by asking you to include some adverts on their site – this could be a banner at the top, or a popup advert.

Here is a host that offers a free service: http://www.20m.com
and many others can be read about here:

http://www.100best-free-web-space.com

I wouldn’t recommend using a free web host though, but instead a low-cost one. This is because they are much more reliable.

The best thing is to visit that site and read about what they offer.

As for your second question, there are two options.
1. is to create the site from scratch which to be honest will mean you taking time out to learn how to design sites. I recommend Dreamweaver – www.dreamweaver.com

2. Instead of designing the site, use freely available templates.
There are many out there and they are great looking too. check this out:

www.oswd.org – open source web design

Once you download a design you like, just open it up in dreamweaver, frontpage, or even a text editor like Notepad, then edit everything to your needs!

Good luck!

When do you expect to support FRONTPAGE 2003 in its entirity?

February 14, 2010 frontpage webhosting 1 Comment

My site is not currently supported by the extensions I need from YAHOO to use … if the extensions are not to be supported in the near future, I intend to go to another source for webhosting.

Don’t think so.

Frontpage forms unable to submit succesfully?

February 7, 2010 frontpage webhosting 3 Comments

I have a website and already upload it a few weeks ago. The problem is after i clicked the submit button, an error page came up saying Cannot run the FrontPage Server Extensions on this page: "http://www.modelmajalah.com/borang.htm". But my hosting server did have a server extension installed in it. The webhosting webmaster didnt answer me very well, he just put a link for me to surf for an answer, but nothing happened.

Your webhosting guy is the only one who can solve this for you.

To make sure you dont run into this issue, use ASP Coding to send email yourself.

Yahoo Webhosting and their appalling lack of service?

February 2, 2010 frontpage webhosting 1 Comment

I recently signed up to Yahoo small businesses and their webhosting service. I’m using FrontPage 2002 which they claim is supported by Yahoo.

However, I cannot publish my web and my efforts to contact yahoo have fallen on deaf ears. As I am in the UK I used the email ‘contact us’ service. My first email was sent 3 May and the second one on 6 May. I have yet to receive a response to either email.

I’m desperate and want to phone their 800 number can I do this from the UK? what codes do I need? will it cost me?

Thanks.

800 numbers are internationally free

You should probably add detail why you can’t publish. I probably could of answered it for you but now I am not able to since I can’t have 2 answers in one Question.

Best of Luck!

What email providers also provide free website hosting and builders?

March 11, 2010

I was wondering if there were any other email providers that would host websites for members..and had an easy website builder. I’ve already tried yahoo and msn,and wasn’t very pleased.. any ideas?
*It would also be nice if the hoster/builder had a member/mysql data base.**
I would suggest 000webhost free hosting. They have no ads, 1.5GB of [...]

Can anyone recommend a "green" web hosting service/company? Can you use yahoo ecommerce with another host?

March 11, 2010

I’m starting a niche natural/eco-friendly ecommerce business and would like to use a green hosting company. I orginally was looking at using Yahoo’s Small Business ecommerce solution simply because it’s easy and everything is right "out of the box" plus it seems like a great way to get started with an ecommerce biz fairly easily.
