Will moving to a dedicated virtual host from a shared hosting improve my site performance?

my site performance is a bit sluggish currently on a shared hosting (Media temple). I’m wondering if dedicated-virtual will be faster.

Do Virtual Private Servers offer better uptime than shared hosting?

I’m running some websites with shared hosting providers for $10/month. I’ve been experiencing some down times. The tech support tell me there’s nothing wrong with my site. The server experienced heavy loads from other accounts sharing the same space. If I purchased VPS, would I experience the same problem?

It depends. Keep in mind that a VPS does not guarantee resources and therefore stability. Because a VPS is another word for shared! A VPS is one virtual server amongst many on the same physical server. If another VPS on the same server starts consuming more resources, the whole server will under perform, including your VPS.

Get your own dedicated server if you need stability. You can find dedicated servers for less than $100 dollars. Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or comments.

How can I see what other sites are on my shared hosting server?

I have a shared hosting account and I would like to see what other sites are on that server. I know there is a website like that, I’ve seen it before on Digg, but I cant find it. If anyone knows of that site I’m talking about, that would be great!!!!

How do I make a shared hosting service on a Windows machine?

Right now I have an old IBM computer sitting around with Windows XP Home, 512mb of RAM, 40gb hard drive space, and a Pentium 4 2.4ghz processor. And I was wondering how I would make a small shared hosting service for about 10 friends and myself for free? I have searched all over the internet and have found nothing.

Call a web hosting that would be a good idea.
Call a remote desktop would be an also good idea.
Call a peer to peer program also good idea.
What else you would like to know.

How to set up a Network Printer on XP

Print wirelessly without having buying a wireless printer
In Vista:
First you have to configure a computer which has printer installed on it.
To do that:
1. Right click on “My Computer” and select “Properties”
2. Look for your “computer name”, and be sure to write down the computer if its not something easy to remember.
3. Click start—Control Panel—Printer
4. “Right Click” on the printer that you want to share and Click on “Sharing”
5. Create a name for printer or you can leave the default name. Make sure you remember the name of the printer.
6. If there is a option that says “Share this printer to network” make sure check that.

Next——————————————–
Make sure your guest computer is connect to same network as the home computer which has printer installed on it.
1. login into guest computer (laptop, desktop)
2. Click on start—Control Panel—printer
3. Click on add printer
4. Select “Add a network, wireless or bluetooth printer”
5. If you don’t see the printer that you shared then click on ” The printer that i want isn’t listed”
6. Click on ” Select a shared printer by name”
7. Make sure type in two backward slash then type in the computer name that you wrote from host computer follow by one backward slash and the printer name of the host computer.
For example: \\computername\printername
breakdown:
\\computername: is the host computer name
\printername: is the printer which is share by host computer
