Free web hosting with database capabilities?

I just got a space for my free web page at geocities, but now I need to include an access database to be accesed via my web page, which geocities does not provide for, as far as I am concerned. Where else can I set up a free page that allows me to have the database as well?

http://www.DependableHost.net gives you MySQL databases – which are comparible to access… Prices are good, uptime is awesome, customer service is the best that I’ve found anywhere else.

I need to convert a POSTGRESQL database over to MYSQL due to hosting restrictions… recommendations?

February 23, 2010 database hosting 1 Comment

OK. I run a drupal site, and just for fun I set it up to use postgresql, because my hosting provider provided it.

Now I’m moving to another provider that does not provide postgresql, and I need to convert databases. Recommendations? Preferably a process that doesn’t require "write a sql script by hand (or a database parser) to replace the other database" :D

Have you tried the MySQL Migration Toolkit?
Its part of the GUI tools package:

Recommend hosting that allows remote mysql 5 database connection?

February 11, 2010 database hosting 7 Comments

I’m looking for a cheap 3rd party hosting solution that will allow me to set up mysql 5 databases with remote connections. Can anyone recommend something?

I recommend one of these: http://www.hosttell.com/

Powweb is on a 50% sale – $3.88/month ($46.56/year), and you get a free domain from them.

What’s a good and cheap web hosting provider? looking for something which can support databases and ASP.NET.?

February 2, 2010 asp.net hosting 9 Comments

I’m doing a site for my high school class reunion, so I don’t need much in the way of bandwidth. Also would like to be able to add a lot, since I’m a recent computer science grad, and I’m looking to put together a portfolio.

I recommend either Godaddy Economy or the Deluxe plan:

http://www.hosttell.com/godaddy/

(prices from $4.74/month – $6.99/month)

You just have to select windows hosting (instead of linux which is selected by default). This option is located on top of the plans description. I would even recommend you the Deluxe hosting, because it allows you to host multiple domains on the same account, so you can add your personal site or others to the same account. (you just have to buy additional domain names).

Can anyone recommend a "green" web hosting service/company? Can you use yahoo ecommerce with another host?

March 11, 2010

I’m starting a niche natural/eco-friendly ecommerce business and would like to use a green hosting company. I orginally was looking at using Yahoo’s Small Business ecommerce solution simply because it’s easy and everything is right "out of the box" plus it seems like a great way to get started with an ecommerce biz fairly easily. [...]
