Does anybody know how many websites do hosting companies usually host per one server? (or the usual range?)
There can be just one, but I doubt it. I have seen HUNDREDS without any problem.

Does this work the same on the pay webhosting with a ".com" or ".co.uk". Do you simply just up-load the same as I do now??

The methods for uploading your work to a host server depend on that particular service.
Some of them allow FTP (which is fairly common). Some have server extensions that allow you to modify and edit directly. There are various other ways.
I have a bad habit of not clicking random links posted here, so I can’t verify which one the service you’re looking at uses. However, their sales/customer service area should be able to tell you. That’s why they are there.

I am about to subcribe to 123-reg buying a domain name and a internet hosting service. My question may seem rather basic but I’m afaid I need clarification if possible.
I intend to use my website for selling products such as e-books, CD’s etc. What I am unsure about is whether I can have several/many different websites within the one package supplied by the host server? In other words I anticipate selling a variety of products but the website supporting each one would need to be different ie promoting each individual product.
Also, has anyone else used 123-reg and would recommend them?
123-reg doesn’t seem to allow hosting of multiple websites/domains under the same account.

I am a Mac OS X user, and develop with rails on it. I have a fedora box that i do my hosting on, and I’m wondering if there is a way I can move my app onto it to host. I couldn’t find anything on the web about it.
Since ruby is available on osx you should have no problems after installing the required libraries. you might want to install the latest version of apache 2, but the old version should be simple enough to configure for ruby… or any other language!
Apache & UNIX are all there for you on OS X.
