I changed email hosting providers. I get most email except from AOL and RoadRunner users. Do they update DNS?

I recently changed my email hosting provider. I updated my MX record to point to the mailhost for my new provider. I am receiving email from most people, however email sent from friends who use AOL and RoadRunner as ISPs, does not arrive. I have used DNS tools that display MX records (dnsstuff.com, iptools.com, mxtoolbox.com) and my MX record is set correctly. Since I am receiving mail from other people and businesses I am am assuming the problem resides with AOL and Road Runner. Am I wrong?

Yes, it seem to be DNS cache problem with aol and roadrunner. Have your friend do a nslookup on your domain and the mail A record and see if the point to the correct address.

I am looking for a windows hosting provider for .Net 3.0. Any reliable providers?

April 25, 2010 hosting providers 2 Comments

I have an application that needs to be hosted in a data centre. It is a MS app on .Net 3.0. Wanted to check if someone knows of reliable data centres where we promise good uptime etc

You can try EasyCGI. The best Windows hosting provider around. Lately people say they suck. Try search for "EasyCGI sucks" on Google and see if you are comfortable with the complaints. But some say they are just as good as before or even better.

Best email hosting for my domain.?

April 17, 2010 email hosting 1 Comment

I have my own domain name that I’ve purchased and been hosting my own email for about 3 years now. I’ve been getting tired of Enom central which is my current email host because it’s just not working out for me anymore. I would like to find another email hosting provider that can host my email account under my own domain name. Anyone have any suggestions? I’ve been looking all over and thought it would be a good idea to get some peoples opinions. Thanks!

I would recommend www.WebPricedRight.com

They have great email planss and also have 24/7 free support. They also have great hosting deals and I’ve never had an issue with down time.

I have used over half a dozen companies over the last 9 years. I am a Graphic Designer and I service over 20 clients. Most of the service providers that I used promised the world but just raised their prices the next year. For the last 3 years I have been working with Web Priced Right. I wasn’t sure at first because their prices were relatively low compared to other options out there. It was the best decision I’ve ever made!

Hope that helps…

Email or hosting server provider with SERVER-SIDE spam protection with the challenge question feature?

April 13, 2010 email hosting 4 Comments

I’m sick of waiting 20 minutes for my oulook to download 1,000 spam a day. Is there a hosting provider out there that provide spam blockers on the server side so I only download white-listed emails?

They would also have to have the challenge question feature so that people that weren’t whitlisted knew that their email wasn’t received and they have a chance to get through. It should also have a reviewable junk folder… but server side.

Any one know of such a website and/or email service provider like that? (Yahoo’s SpamGuard plus doesn’t have challenge question)

check the downloads at http://www.pcworld.com for a free add on spam blocker. they have them because my U.Lester uses one. I’m not sure of the name but you can search the downloads.

If you use Access to create a database, and a web form for input is it easy to host it on a website?

April 11, 2010 database hosting 1 Comment

I am just trying to find the easiest, idiot proof way of creating a webpage to view and enter data in one basic table.

This if for my husbands company and I really don’t want to get involved with the stupidity that is inevitably going to be involved in this. Too many people with no clue not knowing what they want and changing their mind every 5 minutes.

So if I can set it up so their website can just host an Access database and use Access design elements to create the webpage I can wash my hands of the whole thing.

But for some reason I just can’t seem to figure it out? Anyone have a good tutorial, or has done this before and can help me out?

Their webserver hosts a virtual Microsoft Server 2003, if that helps?

Thanks.

Its brainless but you should check with your hosting provider because they prob give you SQL for free. Even though its overkill for your application it won’t be apt to corrupt like Access and Access wasn’t developed for the web or multiple users.

It was developed to be part of the Office suite for personal use.

Here’s a better suggestion for a database.

For a Free Database:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/express/aa718406.aspx

The program to build your app:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/express/aa718378.aspx

to practice with and then copy it straight to your SQL Server. Or just use it locally from one of your machines.

Access uses a watered down version of VB so if you can program in Access you’ll like this.

What’s the best way to go from a simple shared hosting account w/ hostgator to a good VPS or dedicated server?

March 29, 2010 hosting shared 2 Comments

I am wanting to upgrade my hosting account to a more secure plan. However, I have about 10 sites and I have done a lot of work to them. I want a smooth transition from A hostgator shared account to a reputable VPS or dedicated server.

I have never done this before and don’t want to be stuck exporting and importing anything. Can this be done?

I think that you deserve to be client of one company called LVPSHosting .
Their team can arrange everything for moving from old hosting provider to the new. And You will have fully control of what you worked for (your sites) .
Just contacting them at http://www.lvpshosting.com and the team will manage for the rest.
And VPS plans starts from $18.95 and that is very cheap for the service you are getting.

Free website hosting supporting php database scripts…?

March 18, 2010 database hosting 8 Comments

I have a site. its about wallpapers. i want any free website hosting providers who provides unlimited hosting or 1gb. That should support php my sql database and i wil install image galleries in my site.

example: coppermine photo gallery is the best gallery ive seen till now. Is there any free hosting provider who supports these kinds of galleries???

If you know any other free image gallery scripts please let me know.

please let me know asap..

Thanks
- Madhav

I doubt very much you’ll find free hosting services with unlimited hosting. They would be immediately drowned by spammers or warez hosting.

freehostia offers a very nice free hosting service with PHP, MySQL, and no advertisements. The free service offers 250 MB of space, but that should be more than enough to get you started.

Freehostia also offers a version of coppermine with a one-click installer. (I’ve found that automatic installations work about half the time.)

If coppermine turns out to be too complex for your needs, there are three other image gallery scripts available at freehostia, or you can install your own.

You should be at least a little familiar with databases and web management to do a custom installation, but once it’s up and running, you should be fine.

I don’t work for freehostia. I’ve used them for years for several of my customers, and I’ve found them to be a good value.

ASP Access Database Connection Problem in hosting plan ?

March 15, 2010 database hosting 1 Comment

I have more than 5 portal hosted on Shared Hosting, in all portal i am using asp access database connection. In every 5-15 days it seems problem for data connection (Internal Server Error 500)
My hosting provider is claiming that asp access can not handle mask user, is it, what should i do ?

You can ask the provider to give a more user friendly HTTP error. This would get you out of the guessing game. If there service is bad find a better provider. There are thousand of them.
