Hosting Access Database at an ISP?

March 9, 2010 database hosting 1 Comment

I have created a simple database using Microsoft Access for "adding" records. its workin fine for my office. now im opening another office elswhere. can ISPs be able to host this database even though its made of access? id use mysql but i dnt have the sofwtare. i want records to be enterd at both offices and the data should update automatically.. please help. its urgent

If your ISP provides hosting and a hosting package would include MS Access database, then you could. Otherwise you have to find a hosting provider who offers Access database access. The same thing applies to MySQL. In case the hosting provider – for YOUR website – provides a MySQL database you can utilize this as well. Additionally you could download the free community edition of MySQL and then you would have the software, too.

regards connecting two locations you could check out this answer from answers.yahoo.com. It may give you useful clues.

how do i get my website on the internet?

March 9, 2010 123 hosting 5 Comments

i have made a website using WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) web builder.
i have bought the domain name i want to use as well as a hosting package. (bought through www/123-reg.co.uk)
how do i get the site onto the internet?
any help is much appreciated

I am not familiar with the web builder you have used, and I am not sure if you upload the side using that builder, if you do not use the web builder to upload the site then try these steps:
You will have to download an FTP client, Ftp clients are used to upload files to your site, to connect to your site you will have to find out your FTP login information from your hosting provider. Once connected to your site you will be able to drag and drop files from your website that you have made, onto your ‘remote host’ (in FTP you have remote which is your online files, and local, which is your files on your pc)
I hope this helps, a link for a free FTP client is below.
Good luck

I want to start my own rapidshare like website, suggest me best hosting service to host my website?

I want a hosting provider , who will give php settings like maximum upload size upto 200MB . and big memory space to start rapidshare like website.

I use IX Web Hosting around 3 years.
I run php, mysql, java scripts, etc.
Also I do recommend it for my clients – I do webs for businesses.
Works good. Inexpensive.
I tried many other web hosting services and had a lot of headache.
Many web hosting services have a hidden fees like fees for dedicated I, Domain Name, etc.
On IX Web Hosting all major hosting services included in all plans.
Here is link to site where you can find more information and compare different hostings (real facts comparison, not a recomendations based on commision value)

What is the best web hosting solution for a social networking website?

We want a scalable solution that is affordable but robust enough to handle an sharp increase in demand.

1) Performance – We want our hosting to be able to scale quickly to handle an increase in traffic.
2) Email – We will be sending our members critical event notification emails that we don’t want listed as SPAM. Anything we can do in the hosting environment to improve this would be great.
3) Security – We don’t have full-time staff, so it would be great if more of the IT maintenance / updates / monitoring that can be done by the hosting provider.
4) Cost – we have a limited budget, and we can’t get into a long-term contract.

Technical details: Windows hosting w/ SQL required.

What are the best solutions out there?

Many thanks

Which are the best hosting provider companies in Kolkata!?

I need to start a website for my business, i need to know which are the best hosting companies available in kolkata, I would also be using website for my online business (sales) and I need someone who can help me out on this!

Take into consideration that web hosting is a global service. It does not matter what country you are located in; US, UK, Canada, Australia or India. It is good to note that the cost of hosting services in most countries is generally a little more expensive in comparison to the same services in Canada and the United States. Specifically, American web hosts offer a much better value for money than any local hosting.
Take a look at: http://www.threehosts.com/business There you can reach the three reputable companies that are leaders in the E-commerce web hosting industry.

I need to convert a POSTGRESQL database over to MYSQL due to hosting restrictions… recommendations?

February 23, 2010 database hosting 1 Comment

OK. I run a drupal site, and just for fun I set it up to use postgresql, because my hosting provider provided it.

Now I’m moving to another provider that does not provide postgresql, and I need to convert databases. Recommendations? Preferably a process that doesn’t require "write a sql script by hand (or a database parser) to replace the other database" :D

Have you tried the MySQL Migration Toolkit?
Its part of the GUI tools package:

Looking for a good ecommerce hosting provider…..?

February 18, 2010 ecommerce hosting 1 Comment

I am looking to create a web-site to sell a few products. I looked at a few like Yahoo and Volusion, but I am wondering if there is any other good ones. Volusion is suppose to be real good, but they charge an $99 set-up fee.

I would use http://www.dreamhost.com

About $8 / month for LAMP hosting, including a shared SSL certificate (they can also sell you a fixed IP address and security certificate of your own for a little extra).

Dreamhost includes an autoinstaller for zencart http://www.zencart.com but I would download and install oscommerce http://www.oscommerce.com which is free.

You may find in the oscommerce community forums a better provider than Dreamhost, but I have been using them for nearly 8 years and couldn’t be happier with them.

Yahoo! Small Business Webhosting Total Cost?

February 16, 2010 business webhosting 2 Comments

Yahoo! Small Business Webhosting Total Cost? How Mutch Is There Intotal To Pay For Yahoo! Small Business Webhosting ? Including domain name and webpages ect… all i want to do is setup a website with them so please can some one give me the full price?

I just set one up. I pay $35 per year for the hosting which Yahoo farms out to a hosting provider, then I pay $9.95 per month to yahoo. I think it’s a good deal and Yahoo has a lot of different tools to manage your site so its about $150 per year.

March 11, 2010

I’m starting a niche natural/eco-friendly ecommerce business and would like to use a green hosting company.
