note that i’m using windows XP SP2 so what software i need? what steps should i go through?

Are you on XP SP2 Home or XP SP2 Pro?

If you’re on Pro then you need to install IIS, you should find this through ‘Add/Remove Windows Components’ on ‘Add/Remove Programs’ in your control panel.

If you’re running Home then you can’t install IIS, you could try Cassini:

http://www.asp.net/projects/cassini/download/

Or XSP that’s part of Mono:

http://www.mono-project.com/Main_Page

But both of these are really only intended as development and testing servers, not for running busy public websites.
