Is it possible to host an SQL database server from within the Yahoo webspace environment?

January 23, 2010 sql server hosting 2 Comments

I have an SQL database running on my local machine that has a browser interface for viewing the data. Is there somewhere or some way to upload this to my Yahoo webspace (in GeoCities??) that would allow me to add and view information in the database from a general internet browser? I guess I’m looking for an SQL hosting server…?

Short answer NO yahoo will not let you do that. Now they have database services that come with their hosting packages (mysql I think) but you can not access those databases externally. Call yahoo and ask them.

It is not very hard to set up your own database in your environment.

Hope that helps

    Which version of SQL?

Some Geocities accounts include MySQL; you can always just transfer your data into one of those.
